Designing the Bar

Mad Men brought us back to the early days when gentlemen had their own bar in the office. That is a bit extreme and we shall not encourage drinking at work or drinking with no moderation.

But having a nice stocked bar at home adds a bit of glamour and sophistication to our daily lives. That is why Hunt for Design has selected a few items that would help you create a perfect socialising spot in your house. It is also an excuse to find the right gift.

The cabinet/bar:

The first step is to allocate an old piece of furniture or side table as your bar, or you could go all the way with this magnificent Jonathan Adler piece:

Glassware:

The ultimate element of a cool bar is the glasses where you serve your drinks. You will need to have at least some cocktail, wine and champagne glasses:

They are also very important for serving nicely your Scotch. I like tumblers for mixers as well, so you can serve G&Ts or any other combination in one of these:

Bottles and decanters:

There is nothing more sophisticated than pouring an aged Scotch from a beautiful crystal bottle. Remember that luxury is about the little details and sometimes a rather cheap whisky tastes more expensive when served like a gentleman.
