Always on the look out for new places, we heard that there was a new Japanese restaurant in Toronto with amazing reviews.
Imanishi is only a short taxi ride from downtown Toronto where we stayed. The place has a very clean and modern design, very welcoming. You can expect the most attentive and friendly staff as well, which is a huge part of the full package.
One of the stereotypes about Canadians is how friendly they are, and this is totally true. This was my second visit and everywhere I found welcoming faces and kindness.
As you can see by our expectant faces, we were excited to taste what has been called ‘one of the best Japanese cuisines in Toronto’.
We tasted several dishes that will show you that Japanese food is not only sushi and sashimi (delicious of course), but there are many more options.
But first things first, the cocktail menu is intriguing enough to give it a try. Our expert mixologist just moved to Toronto from London. He explained the two brilliant options he chose. Daidai Orange Sour was my absolute favourite with rye whisky, daidai orange juice and bitters. I have to admit that I had a second round!
And now get ready for the yummy selection of original dishes selected by the chef:
The carpaccio was incredibly tasty and fresh. Make sure you order it because you will not regret it.
This soup was simply delicious, with a strong kick of spiciness and full of flavour.
Imanishi has been open just for a few months and has rapidly become a must-visit in Toronto. We arrived quite early and it filled up very quickly. So if you are planning a visit to the city, don’t miss out on visiting this trendy and fantastic restaurant.
