Poolside with Slim Aarons

I decided to invest in this book despite of my fear of gathering stuff in my flat. Moving houses is never easy and I have done that quite a few times. Especially when we talk about books, they are something you never want to leave behind but the truth is that they are heavy, this one in particular.

I bought it at Jonathan Adler and honestly, I do not regret it at all. This is one of those coffee table books that will amuse and inspire every time you have a look through it.

The summer seems to be almost gone in the UK but there is still very nice weather in other places. Going through this book just makes me even more anxious about my upcoming holiday in St Lucia in a few weeks time….

Slim Aarons (1916-2006) was an American photographer who moved to California after the war and started taking pictures of film stars and celebrities.

He never used a stylist and the result of these brilliant pictures is what he called “photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.” Obviously knowing everyone in the right circles helped a lot.

These pictures make us dream of huge houses and very interesting gatherings around the pool. Pool parties and intimate moments showing us how the other half live (or lived in many cases).

I hope you enjoy this little sample of what is inside, and I can tell you that it is really worth it.
